Science Bio Syllabus

Topic 1: Biomolecules
Take note that the chemical structure of carbohydrates, fats and proteins is not in your syllabus.
However, you need to know the smaller basic units that are used to synthesize them.
Eg; 3 Fatty acids + 1 Glycerol = Fat

Enzyme specificity should be explained by lock and key hypothesis. You do need need to study the induced fit hypothesis.
You also do need need to explain the mode of action of enzymes in terms of activation energy.

Topic 2: Cells
Endoplasmic reticulum (ER) and Golgi body are membrane systems that are not in your syllabus.
However, you need to know that ribosomes are the sites of protein synthesis and they can be found in the cytoplasm or ER.

Topic 3: Diffusion and Osmosis
Active transport is not in your syllabus.
However, as this concept is one that will help you in the understanding of some concepts in later topics, it will still be taught.
